First things first...
What is HYROX ?
HYROX is a functional fitness race, combining 8 x 1km of running alternated with 8 functional exercise stations. A functional exercise is one that replicates or imitates a movement from daily life eg pushing, pulling, grip strength, balance, lifting, co-ordination and stability. Excercises typically involve multiple muscle groups and help develop overall fitness.
HYROX exercise stations remain the same at all levels of competition BUT weights for some vary. The exercise station order also remains the same...

TEAM RELAYS
Not included in this chart is HYROX Relay. Relay teams comprise groups of 4 (all male, all female or mixed (2 of each)). For relay teams the weights are the same as for open events and in mixed male and female weights are allocated accordingly. Each competitor completes 2 x 1km runs and 2 workout stations only.
DOUBLES
For doubles pairs both team members must complete all 8 x 1km runs. Workout stations can be split according to preference, ability, skill level etc and each station can be completed by one or partially by each as long as the total is reached and all rules adhered to.
WHY HYROX?
Crucially to the HYROX ethos, HYROX is a fitness race for EVERY BODY. Although it is a race it should not always be viewed as a race agains others. HYROX is largely about proving to yourself what your body and mind are capable of. Should you wish to take part in a competitive way then that's fantastic - absolutely GO FOR IT! For many people the beauty of HYROX is that it's a great way to up your training style, make a change and beat your last best time or simply to prove to yourself that you can do something you never thought you could.
(For me personally I am not a great runner over a long distance so I'd never do a marathon (or even a half) BUT I want to run and I need a reason and a goal. I know it's good for me. HYROX is my ideal for this. I love the stations and 8 x 1km runs are made easy by being broken up with those always just a few minutes away).

WHERE IS HYROX HELD ?
HYROX events are now held across the world, year round. The HYROX schedule is available on www.hyrox.com with tickets available through individual events pages. Tickets for events are released at different times for different events across the seasons calendar. UK venues have included - The Scottish Events Campus Glasgow, London OLYMPIA, Manchester Central Convention Centre, and Birminghams NEC. Events are often though not exclusively run over multiple days and start times for each division are varied. More information can be found on individual event pages.

Great news!! So here's a little background on why I became a HYROX Affiliated Trainer.
Entering the fitness space in my 40's and having been told all my life that I wasn't made for fitness I guess as a Personal Trainer I had something to prove. I worked hard to get where I am and I work hard to deliver a great experience for my clients. I have what I consider to be a privileged position of being in the best job in the world - I help people become their best and focus on improving their lives. It may sound cheesy but it's true.
I'm Hypermobile so lifting weights always comes with a bit of a risk. I love it but I also manage it. I'll never compete with weights, I'll never be the fastest runner either. What I can be though is competitive and in all honesty I am probably harder on myself than most people realize. HYROX allows me to focus my determination on the things I can do and to push my limits safely. At 50+ I am unlikely to be the fastest on the track or in all the stations but I can always be faster, more efficient, better than my last best.
My own brand motto has always been LIVE FIT FEEL FABULOUS. The ethos behind this is that everyone can do something, most can do more than they think and we can all feel amazing doing it. HYROX allows me to take this one step further and prove that not only is fitness for everyone but fitness racing is for EVERY BODY. We can all be part of this amazing community that supports one another regardless of our level, experience, age, or ability. There is nothing better than a day at HYROX seeing super fit 20 somethings who can complete a race in an hour supporting folks in their 70's grinding it out in 2 or 3 hours and all of them and those in between having fun, working hard and being their best and striving to be better than the last time.
